Broadwater arrives for major conversion at Royal Huisman

Dutch yard Royal Huisman has announced that its Huisfit specialist refit division has welcomed 52-metre Broadwater to the yard, where a major conversion will see the yacht transformed.
Built by Feadship as Rasselas in 1994, Broadwater’s conversion will see a 4-metre extension of the hull, including a restyled stern, a wide range of comfort-related and aesthetical upgrades inside and out, and updates to meet classification requirements. Broadwater arrived at Huisfit in July 2019 and work will complete in Spring 2020.
This major project will be based on the brief from Broadwater’s experienced owner to convert the yacht into a “modern and livable home away from home” with charter capability. The owner worked closely with designer Adam Voorhees to create the brand new exterior and interior styling, which feature an abundance of desirable modifications.
The choice to work with Husifit followed the Huisfit team’s assistance with the Lloyd’s inspection and maintenance work on Broadwater in spring 2019. According to the yard the owner and his team were so impressed with the quality, experience and time scheduling displayed by Royal Huisman’s refit division for various ongoing projects that they decided to return to Huisfit in Amsterdam.
During her time at Huisfit, Broadwater will be transformed from “private use” to “commercial use” and the refit will incorporate a number of features that will make her a highly popular charter yacht. These include a full rebuild of the sundeck, including a new composite mast with sun awning, additional board systems, new teak and furniture on the main and bridge decks, and a full paint job on the superstructure and hull. The interior will be completely restyled and modified, with notable changes to the owner and guest areas and crew spaces.
This major project shows the possibilities when it comes to making a mark on a second hand yacht purchase. Broadwater will emerge from Huisfit like new and completely reborn.
