Baltic Yachts launch innovative foiling sailing superyacht Canova

14th May 2019

Finnish superyacht builder Baltic Yachts has launched one of the most highly-anticipated new builds of 2019, the 43-metre Baltic 142 Canova. Built for an experienced owner, Canova is a stand out design thanks to its unique pairing of foiling technology with a superyacht design. She is the first superyacht to make use of a transverse 9-metre Dynamic Stability System (DSS) foil, which has been designed to reduce heel angle, increase speed and dampen pitching to improve comfort. Foiling technology has been made famous by the America’s Cup and while Canova will not use the same applications as America’s Cup yachts she draws on the same principles. Use of the DSS when the yacht is sailing at speed will result in an up to 20% performance increase. This advanced, ground-breaking design is set to turn heads as she stretches her legs on upcoming sea trials, with expected top speeds of 25knots.

Designed by Farr Yacht Design, with an interior by Lucio Micheletti of Micheletti + Partners, Canova is built entirely from carbon and is light and fast. Canova’s list of appealing features includes a diesel-electric drive system and hydro-generation system, which promises efficient cruising, the opportunity to run in ‘silent mode’ for several hours and lower vibration and noise levels. She has also been designed to allow easy maintenance by her owner and crew no matter where she is in the world.

Canova’s design boasts large and inviting spaces including the large cockpit with bimini cover and interior main saloon with contemporary décor. Accommodation is for eight guests and includes the large owner’s suite amidships. Sleek and elegant, she is a stunning yacht.

Baltic Yachts have had a busy few weeks, with the Baltic 112 Liara hitting the water only a week ago. This all-custom performance sloop has also been built for an experienced owner and will be used for family cruising and regattas. Designed by Malcolm McKeon, with an interior by Adam Lay Design, Liara is able to welcome up to eight guests on board. Liara is set to make her debut at the Monaco Yacht Show 2019.
